The Rhodesian Air Force Memorial
This memorial is also in the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. It is dedicated to all Rhodesians who served in the Rhodesian Air Force, the Royal Rhodesian Air Force and the RAF in WWII. The memorial consists of a stainless steel column depicting the Rhodesian Air Force badge and words of dedication, set in front of a contrasting corten steel panel. The background panel frames the memorial from the surrounding distracting foliage and also creates a place for interesting shadows to fall from the memorial. It is a simple but effective memorial produced on a modest budget. The whole project was successfully pushed through by two ex-Rhodesians, Clive Bloor and Sue Talbot, within a year.
